About The Band About The Coyotes

Doug was compelled to take piano lessons at age 7, and spent the next 10 years chained to a piano for a half hour every day. Upon reaching the age of 18 he was allowed to cease his lessons... and two years later in college found him at a keyboard for 2 to 3 hours a day, quite voluntarily. Funny how things change! Doug spent 3 years at Penn State as a Music Composition major before switching in his last semester to "Computer Graphics and Electronic Music."

Dreams of being the next John Williams went on hold for the next 10 years as Doug worked in the printing and graphic arts industries. During that time his love for music didn't wane, but rather found expression through the acquisition of as many musical instruments as he could get his hands on and tinker with. Thus did he begin to assemble a collection of various instruments which he played with varying amounts of skill.

Early in 2001, Doug began playing with a small but enthusiastic group of musicians at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, serving as lead singer and guitarist with occasional whistle work. Influenced heavily by a wonderful group, the Arcona Reel Band, he learned traditional Celtic melodies and began a foray into that musical genre that would lead him to the attention of Coyote Run.

Doug auditioned for the band and was thrilled to be accepted as a Coyote in 2006, and has continued his journey of musical exploration both onstage with Coyote Run and offstage as a composer of film and game soundtracks.
