Michael's musical journey started in elementary school as a trombonist, and music has been a sustaining part of his life ever since. Discovering bass guitar in High School (along with tuba, baritone horn, bari sax, and string bass) opened a door for him that's taken him down the avenues of heavy metal, pop classic rock, jazz, country, and even pit orchestras for college musicals.
His playing philosophy is simple: He's a bassist. Never one to adhere to any one style or genre, he's always tried to bring a bass line into the arrangement that he felt fit the song best. Coyote Run's broad palette of original material allows him to bring rock, jazz, country, and funk into the mix, sometimes within the same song. He feels strongly that the emotion of a lyric needs to be reflected in the music and tries to support that emotion with the bass lines he creates. Given that Coyote Run is a "storytelling" band, he feels he's found a home!
